Ski and Snowboard Club Vail moguls skiers compete at FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships

Porter Huff and Reese Chapdelaine competed in both moguls and dual moguls events

Two Ski and Snowboard Club Vail moguls athletes competed in the moguls and dual moguls events at the FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships on April 5-6 in Chiesa in Valmalenco, Italy.

Porter Huff placed fifth overall in moguls and was 10th in the dual moguls. Reese Chapdelaine finished 15th and 11th in the two events, respectively.

American Asher Michel claimed his second Junior Worlds podium in the individual event and his teammate Kylie Kariotis won the duals event on the women’s side. Winter Park’s Olivia Maurais placed seventh in the dual moguls.



It was the first Junior World Championships for both Huff and Chapdelaine. Earlier in the season, Huff teamed up with fellow SSCV athlete Liz Lemley to win the dual moguls team gold at the Youth Olympic Winter Games. The 16-year-old also claimed a silver medal in the men’s dual moguls. He also made his World Cup debut on Feb. 1 in Deer Valley.

Chapdelaine finished the season ranked sixth in the NorAm Cup standings. The 18-year-old’s best performance this season was a fourth-place finish at the Deer Valley NorAm Cup on Feb. 7.
