Ski film premieres in Vail Saturday night
VAIL, Colorado – Premiering in Vail tonight at Vendetta’s is Poor Boyz Productions new movie “Everyday Is A Saturday.” The film shows us just how good skiers have gotten over the past year, says John Spriggs, a product of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail Freeride. “After years of skiing in Vail, I’m proud to say that we were finally able to showcase Vail’s diversity in both terrain and talent in this movie,” Spriggs says. If you are a local, you may recognize a few secret Vail spots in the movie, but don’t expect the exact locations to be revealed. Rail shots from Vail, Beaver Creek, and Edwards – with athletes Spriggs, Tanner Hall and Dane Tudor – can also be seen. And what is a dub-cork 1260 you might be asking? Spriggs explains it like this: “It’s a double off-axis spin; coming off-axis twice throughout the rotation.” He also adds with a chuckle, “oh yeah, and if you don’t grab, it’s not legit.” Spriggs broke both eye sockets and nose attempting this trick in the backcountry in April, but came back strong this past summer, when he performed the trick in Mt. Hood, Ore. for a closing shot of the film. “Everyday Is A Saturday” is not just a park movie. It was filmed in British Columbia, Whistler, Mt. Bachelor, Mt. Hood, Mt. Baker, Utah, Vail, and Alaska. This is an all ages showing. The doors open at 7 p.m. with a $12 cover. Vendetta’s has donated a free keg and skiers from the film will attend. For more on Spriggs or to follow him throughout the season check out his blog at http://johnspriggs.com.
