Ski Poker comes to Vail Mountain
VAIL, Colorado -Ski Poker comes to Vail Mountain on Saturday. To play, you simply have to buy your Ski Poker game card from a Rotarian at any of the seven locations around Vail Mountain, and then ski to five locations to draw cards for your five-card hand. Game cards will be sold and playing cards drawn at Golden Peak, Vista Bahn, Lionshead, Eagles Nest, Wildwood and Mid Vail, as well as the top Chairs 11, 4 & 5.Prizes will be awarded at the after tournament party beginning at 3 p.m. at the Mountain Plaza at the base of the Vista Bahn. You need not be present to win, but you’ll miss a great party is you don’t drop by.Vail Rotarian Tom Howard is responsible for bringing this idea to Vail Mountain with the support of John Garnsey and Chris Jarnot from Vail Resort. Said Howard, “This event gives winter guests of the mountain a chance to help a local charity and have a good time in the process. We really appreciate John making this opportunity available to us.”The top five hands will win one of five gifts including an Epic Pass donated by Vail Resorts, four nights in a condo in Grand Cayman donated by Indies Suites, two nights at the Cascade Hotel, four First Tracks passes and either two Vilar Performing Arts Center tickets or two dance tickets donated by the Vail Valley Foundation and a pair of Solomon skis donated by Solomon.Sponsored by Vail Resorts and the Vail Rotary Club, the ski poker tournament will help raise money for Rotary’s many charitable activities. These include Polio Plus, the children’s health initiative, the dictionary project, college scholarships for local high school graduates and other Rotary charitable activities.
