Skier dies at Breckenridge

BRECKENRIDGE ” A 43-year-old Colorado Springs man died after skiing into a tree at the Breckenridge Ski Resort Wednesday, officials said.

The man, whose name was not released, was skiing with friends on an intermediate trail when he apparently made a turn too wide, Summit County Corner Joanne Richardson said in a statement.

The skier was not wearing a helmet but it was unclear whether that would have made a difference. Richardson said the preliminary cause of death appeared to be blunt force trauma to the chest.

In a statement, the resort said the accident happened about 11:45 a.m.
