Skier dies at Keystone
KEYSTONE — The Summit County Coroner’s Office responded Saturday to the Keystone Medical Center for the report of the death of a 46-year-old man.
The skier, whose name is being withheld until his family is notified, struck a tree while skiing between Porcupine and Bighorn at Keystone Resort. Porcupine and Bighorn are intermediate trails, and the man was wearing a helmet, according to the coroner’s office news release.
Keystone Ski Patrol performed advanced life support prior to transporting the patient to the Keystone Medical Center, where advanced life support was continued.
Medical personnel were unsuccessful in resuscitating the man.
The manner of death was accidental, the release stated. The cause of death is due to blunt force chest trauma.
