Skijoring at 4 Eagle Ranch
Skijoring is one of the oldest forms of transportation through wintry conditions, and although it is often done with dogs and dog teams, it was more commonly done with horses in the early 1900s. On the weekend of Feb. 19 and 20, a group of riders and skijorers from around the region came together to compete. With skiers going 40 mph and more, skijoring can be difficult and dangerous. As they tear through the course, skijorers must joust a series of rings and launch off jumps all while being pulled by a sprinting horse. Photos by Matt Inden
