Slifer Designs hosts Italian fabric line workshop June 17
Coraggio Textiles, an Italian luxury line represented by Denver-based showroom Nielsen-Metier, will present its latest fashions for fine interior design on June 17 at a free Slifer Designs workshop. Nielsen-Metier’s vice president of sales and Denver showroom manager will showcase new designs for spring 2004 and share ideas for integrating new patterns into existing design schemes. Marilyn Smith Heaney, a senior designer with Slifer Designs for the past 18 years, will walk participants through the steps of choosing the right fabrics for specific designs and lifestyles. Both presentations are part of a free workshop being held at Slifer Designs on Thursday, June 17, from noon to 1 p.m. Slifer Designs is located at 216 Main Street in The Riverwalk in Edwards. “Choosing fabrics is really more involved than just picking something that looks good,” said Smith Heaney. “Experienced designers consider how the fabrics’ fibers, texture, patterns and colors will blend with other furnishings, architectural aspects of the room, and accommodate the homeowner’s lifestyle. “The effects that a mountain environment, sun exposure, children and pets have on fabrics need to be considered as well,” she added.
