Small earthquake shakes Steamboat Springs

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colorado A minor earthquake shook the the Yampa Valley just south of Steamboat Springs early Wednesday morning, the Steamboat Pilot & Today reports.According to the newspapers website, the U.S. Geological Service measured a 2.8 magnitude quake at 4:19 a.m. The earthquake was centered three miles southwest of Steamboat.The last earthquake strong enough to be felt by Steamboat residents occurred just before midnight on Oct. 9, 2005, the newspaper reported. It measured just 2.2 on the Richter scale, but Steamboat residents were attuned to the Earth shaking because just 10 days earlier, the valley was shaken by a 4.4 magnitude quake.
