Small fires sparked along Interstate 70 at Dotsero on Thursday night, Aug. 23
GYPSUM — Gypsum Fire Department crews battled a series of four small fires along Interstate 70 on Thursday night, Aug. 23.
According to department captain Daniel Valdez, the fires were sparked after a tire blow out on a vehicle traveling west of the Dotsero exit near the entrance to Glenwood Canyon. Two fire trucks and a truck from the Colorado Department of Transportation, as well as personnel from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol, responded to the fire at 10:50 p.m. Thursday.
Valdez noted cool night time temperatures and no wind helped firefighters quickly extinguish the fires. The scene was cleared after 35 minutes.
