Small plane makes rough landing at Eagle County Airport
Eagle County, CO Colorado
GYPSUM, Colorado –A Rifle-based pilot was unhurt Wednesday morning when a Mooney single-engine aircraft landed on its belly at the Eagle County Regional Airport.
The plane’s landing gear failed to deploy as the plane touched down around 9 a.m., officials said. The pilot was the only person on board.
After the landing gear collapsed, the aircraft slid to a stop on its belly, damaging the body and the propeller. No fuel leaks were reported, Airport Director Ovid said.
Due to construction scheduled to end Sept. 1, only smaller, private planes can land at the airport this summer.
