Smith will challenge for county assessor
EAGLE COUNTY ” Edward Smith, a 30-year county resident, will try to unseat County Assessor Joyce Mack in this fall’s election.
Smith, who announced his candidacy this week, has a certified general appraisal license, the highest appraisal license issued by the State of Colorado.
In 19 years with the Assessor’s Office, he has appraised all types of property, including vacant land, commercial properties, single family homes, and condos, he said.
He has worked in all areas of the county from rural areas of Tennessee Pass, Burns, and McCoy to the towns of Basalt, Vail, Eagle, Gypsum and Minturn, he said.
“The citizens of Eagle County deserve the best services possible from its county offices. Property appraisal is mandated by the State of Colorado, and I believe a professional appraiser who is familiar with property appraisal process ensures the best service possible from the Assessor’s Office,” Smith said.
Smith is a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers and the Colorado Association of Taxing Appraisers.
“I believe my education, experience, and integrity make me an excellent choice to oversee the Assessor’s Office the next four years,” he said.
