Smokey Bear to attend Vail Public Library Earth Day event
VAIL — On Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m., the Vail Public Library will welcome families to an Earth Day celebration in the Vail Public Library Community Room.
Participants (children ages three and older) will be offered the chance to visit with Smokey Bear, partake in a forest-themed skit, do some planting and create their own original artwork using a range of recycled materials.
‘FUN AND FREE’
“Vail Public Library has partnered with Eagle River Water & Sanitation District, the U.S. Forest Service and Home Depot to put on this fun and free Earth Day event,” said Michelle Jirenec, youth services specialist at the Vail Public Library.
Children can create art out of recycled materials and do some planting thanks to items donated by Home Depot.
Attendees will also receive a goodie bags that is filled with tools to help them use water wisely, courtesy of the Eagle River Water & Sanitation District.
‘FOREST IS OUR PLAYGROUND’
“Having Smokey Bear come to this event is such a fun treat,” said Cricket Pylman, children’s librarian. “His message is extra important to Vail locals and visitors because the forest is our playground. Smokey will start off the event, so you might want to get there as close to 3:30 p.m. as possible.”
Registration is at the door and parents must accompany their children. For more information on the Earth Day celebration, call 970-479-2179 or visit http://www.vaillibrary.com.
