Smokey Bear to visit Vail Public Library Friday
VAIL CO, Colorado
VAIL – On Friday from 3:30 to 5 p.m., the Vail Public Library welcomes families into the Library Community Room for a fun, free Earth Day event designed to educate and celebrate. Special guests, arts and crafts, and a planting station are all part of the entertainment at the event.
Earth Day 2011 at the Vail Public Library is geared to children three years old and up. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras.
“We have a very special and important representative from the U.S. Forest Service who will come to see the children … Smokey Bear. We are honored to have Mr. Bear and his naturalist companion come and talk to the participants about the Earth,” says Michelle Jirenec of the Vail Public Library. “Earth Day is significant because it is a time to educate children about our environment. We at the library will do so with fun activities and stories.”
“It is another opportunity to invite families into the library,” says Lori Ann Barnes, town librarian. “We are pleased that this important day falls on the last weekend of the Vail ski season because that means guests as well as local families will attend.”
Registration is at the door. Children under six must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free. For more information, call 970-479-2179 or visit http://www.vaillibrary.com.
