Smoking ordinance public meetings set
Eagle County and the Town of Avon will hold two public meetings to provide information on the new smoking ordinance that takes effect March 11.
The purpose of these meetings is to help businesses and citizens better understand the ordinance.
The first meeting is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Avon Town Council Chambers, 400 Benchmark Rd. T
he second meeting will be held Thursday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at the same location.
The ordinance was approved by both the Eagle County Commissioners and the Town of Avon on Jan. 10 following 72-percent voter approval of a ballot measure asking for the smoking ban.

When the ordinance takes effect March 11, smoking will no longer be permitted in public places, in places of employment, in service lines, at recreational facilities or at outdoor seating areas in unincorporated areas of Eagle County and the Town of Avon.
These places include, but are not limited to bars, restaurants, chairlifts and lift lines.
