Snow, cold headed to Vail

VAIL, Colorado ” A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the Vail, Colorado area through Saturday evening.

Eight to 18 inches of snow are expected above 9,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service. The snow is expected to start up again Friday evening, continuing into Saturday.

It’s going to get cold, too, with temperatures expected to plummet Friday into Saturday. Daytime temperatures of between negative 5 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit are expected Saturday. Wind chill will range from 20 below to 35 below zero.

Wind gusts of up to 30 mph will be common and cause drifting snow with whiteout conditions.
