Snow hits Colo High Country

COLORADO ” Up to 4 inches of snow is expected in the high country today and rain will continue to pelt metro Denver.

Chains are required for commercial trucks, buses and vans with 16-plus passengers at the eastbound Eisenhower Tunnel and U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass.

The snow level is above 10,000 feet, with snow and slush reported along Interstate 70 at Silverthorne and Vail Pass and U.S. 40 over Berthoud Pass

Around metro Denver, the high will dip to 62 degrees with rain off and on through the day, according to the National Weather Service.

A flash-flood warning is in effect for central El Paso County until 7:15 a.m. as rain continues there.

Authorities reported flooding on Sand Creek in Colorado Springs north of Peterson Air Force Base at 5:30 a.m.

The weekend will warm up and dry out with highs in the low to mid-70s.
