Snow, icy roads close I-70 near Vail
Vail, CO Colorado
DENVER – Cold snowy weather returned to the Front Range Sunday a day after record breaking highs in Denver and dry windy conditions helped spread a wildfire near Fort Collins. The Denver Post reported Sunday that snow and icy roads contributed to several accidents that prompted state transportation officials to close of a portion of Intestate 70 through the mountains, including eastbound lanes near Vail Pass.
Forecasters predict up to 18 inches of snow in parts of the mountains. Snow falling near Fort Collins has helped firefighters stop the spread of a blaze that scorched about 2,000 acres and forced the evacuation of 335 homes.
