Snow prompts Grand Targhee to add week of skiing

JACKSON, Wyo.- Grand Targhee Resort in Alta is extending its ski season for a week after receiving more than 5 feet of new snow in recent days.

The resort announced this week that it will remain open through April 18. It had been scheduled to close Sunday.

The resort will operate only one lift for the extra seven days, and lift ticket prices will be discounted.

Communications Director Shannon Brooks Hamby says the resort considers the extension an experiment to see if business during the extra week will support the expense of remaining open.

Resort officials say slope-side lodging will be closed, the north boundary traverse will not be groomed and facilities such as Wild Bill’s Grill, the Trap Bar and rentals will be open on a limited basis.
