Snow sticks in Vail’s forecast

VAIL, Colorado ” With more than two feet of snow having fallen on Vail and Beaver Creek Mountains in the past seven days, more snow is forecast for Colorado’s Vail Valley this week.

The snow is expected to continue, dropping between 10 and 20 inches of snow on Colorado’s northern mountains, the National Weather Service says.

Vail Mountain has reported 29 inches of snow in the past seven days and has a 71-inch mid-mountain base. It had received 384 inches of snow so far this season as of Wednesday afternoon.

Beaver Creek has reported 26 inches, for a 75-inch mid-mountain base and 350 inches this season.

A moderate chance of snow Thursday should increase on Friday, with a 70 percent chance of rain and snow on Friday night and a 70 percent chance on Saturday, the National Weather Service.

Gusty winds should accompany the storm, the Weather Service says.
