BRECKENRIDGE, Colorado ” While living in Colorado Springs earlier this year, Tara Weldon applied for and was accepted to be taught in the ways of the snowboarder for the MTV reality show which pairs young people with the coaching and tools necessary to pursue a heartfelt dream.

In Breckenridge, she met her coach, Jesse Csincsak, since made famous by “The Bachelorette,” and fell in love with shredding.

A winter season later, Weldon is living in Breckenridge, attending Summit High School and training to be a competitive snowboarder.

“All summer I was trying to convince my parents to move up here,” Weldon said.

The junior in high school said her passion for the sport motivated her mom to agree to move to the High Country with her daughter. The rest of her family has stayed back for now.

Csincsak, who continues to coach out of his post at Breckenridge Ski Resort, said they are filling in the gaps from their 14-day crash course in February for the show.

He said it’s a whole new ball game for Weldon now; she started with the training just wanting to become a snowboarder ” now she wants to see the view from the podium.

Csincsak said, for now, they are prepping for USSA competitions at Copper Mountain, but he’s not rushing it.

“The biggest thing for me is safety. … If it’s safe and it’s fun, she’s probably going to learn something.”

He said he’s impressed with how far she has come in her snowboarding since their work together started.

Along with the training, Csincsak also has kicked some of his sponsors her way. Weldon got some gear and is also designing pieces for Screamer Hats and Zero Gloves.

For Weldon, life is a lot different on the slopes than in the city.

I am getting to do what I love every day after school … once night riding opens, … it’s going to be awesome.”

Weldon and Csincsak will be featured in a follow-up to the “MADE” show on MTV, scheduled to run on New Year’s Eve.
