Snowmaking begins at Vail

VAIL, Colorado ” Snowmaking on Vail Mountain was scheduled to begin early Saturday morning for the first time this season.
Vail Mountain, which is set to open Nov. 21, begins making snow on the Born Free trail each year around Nov. 1.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 20 percent chance of rain beginning Sunday into Sunday night. There’s a chance of snow showers Monday and Tuesday, becoming more likely Tuesday night. Daytime temperatures next time will drop into the 40s and high 30s, the weather service says.
Snowmaking has been ongoing at Beaver Creek since Oct. 23 on the Strawberry Park Express Lift and the Birds of Prey race course.
Beaver Creek’s opening is scheduled for Nov. 26
