Snowmobilers hosting kickoff party in Wolcott
EAGLE, Colorado – It’s time to fire up the sleds, says a local snowmobile club.
The Holy Cross Powder Hounds are hosting their winter kickoff party Friday at 4 Eagle Ranch.
The event is free for current and new members, and $15 for non-members.
Membership is $40, since you asked.
The Holy Cross Powder Hounds are one of the organizations working to retain your right to ride snow machines on public land, said Dean Johnson, one of the officers with the club.
A little over half the membership money goes to the Colorado Snowmobile Association, a statewide organiztion that lobbies to keep areas open for snowmobilers. The CSA pays local clubs to groom trails, something they do for groups all over the state, Johnson said.
Among the trails the Holy Cross Powder Hounds grooms is one that runs from Vail’s Potato Patch up to Piney Lake.
The event starts at 6 p.m.
Representatives from four snow machine manufacturers, displaying the latest snow machines and gear: Ski Doo, Polaris, Arctic Cat, Yamaha, showing their 2011 sleds, clothing and other stuff.
Among the dealers will be Boyz Toys in Eagle.
