Snowmobilers rescue man from Colo. avalanche

GRAND LAKE, Colorado ” A snowmobiler buried by an avalanche Monday on Gravel Mountain in the Arapahoe National Forest was being treated for a dislocated shoulder, Grand County sheriff’s officials said.

Shannon Christensen, 31, of Minnesota, was unconscious after being buried under 3 feet of snow for about five minutes around 11 a.m., but rescuers were able to revive him, sheriff’s officials said.

Four snowmobilers who saw Christensen get caught in the avalanche rushed to dig him out.

The slide was about 150 yards wide, sheriff’s officials said.
