Snowstorm closes out Vail’s ski season

VAIL, Colorado ” A slow-moving winter storm is expect to drop up to 20 inches in the Vail area through Saturday.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for the area through 9 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather service predicts 10 to 20 inches for the area.

Expect 3 to 7 inches during the day Friday, 3 to 7 inches Friday night, and 1 to 3 inches Saturday, the weather service said.

The heaviest snowfall will be near the Continental Divide, the service said.

Vail reported 5 inches of snow as of 6 a.m. Friday morning, bringing Vail’s season snowfall to 432 inches.

Vail Mountain is set to close Sunday.
