Snowstorm traps Colorado High Country residents
FAIRPLAY, Colorado ” County commissioners plan to ask for state of emergency status after snowstorms prompted road closures and left some residents unable to leave their homes.
Park county officials say some areas have 10-foot snowdrifts and that they need specialized equipment to move the snow. A storm that hit the county on January 29th that left residents snowed in was followed by more wind and snow the next week.
About 100 people can’t leave their homes and face dwindling food and propane supplies and ranchers say they have lost livestock because of the weather.
Commissioners will finalize the state of emergency request Tuesday.
