Snowy week in store for Vail?

VAIL, Colorado – Snow is in Vail’s forecast every day this week but forecasters aren’t predicting heavy accumulations.

There is a slight chance of snow the rest of today and the weather could get worse tonight, the National Weather Service says. Much heavier snow is expected to hit southwest Colorado, where more than a foot is forecast.

There is a 50 percent chance of snow today with the Weather Service predicting up to an inch in Vail. Another inch could fall tonight.



Snow could taper off during the Wednesday but increase again Wednesday night through Friday, though the Weather Service hasn’t yet predicted snow totals.

Day-time highs should be in the mid-30s.

Farther out, the Weather Service also expects snow this weekend.

Vail Mountain has not reported any snow in the last seven days and has a mid-mountain base of 24 inches. Vail Mountain reports 100 inches so far this season. Beaver Creek’s base is 27 inches.
