Sonnenalp of Vail Foundation donates to local trails

VAIL, Colorado ” For the eighth consecutive year, the Sonnenalp of Vail Foundation in Vail, Colorado selected ECO Trails as the beneficiary of proceeds from the annual Casual Classic Bicycle Ride held in August.

Last week, the foundation presented a check for $4,100 to ECO Trails as a contribution towards the continued construction of the Eagle County Regional Trails system.

“We really appreciate the support of the (SVF) over the years to help build the trail system for the benefit of the citizens’ health and transportation and benefiting visitors and the economy as well,” said Rachel Friede, chairman of the citizen volunteer ECO Trails Committee. “We are very grateful to Rosana and Johannes Faessler for their dedication to the Eagle County community by hosting this event for 23 consecutive years.”

This year, 130 riders participated in the event, which raises money to benefit area nonprofits and individuals. The ride has become known as a fun gathering for riders of all abilities and ages, culminating in a lunch at Bully Ranch restaurant at the Sonnenalp.

“The Sonnenalp employees volunteered their precious time to donate their energy to making this a fun, successful event; I am always thrilled and amazed at their dedication to this benefit,” said Michele Davis, executive director of the SVF. “The Sonnenalp’s food and beverage team and Tom Mumpower really outdid themselves with delicious food. Thanks also to ECO Transit and Colorado Mountain express for their organization, smooth execution and delivery of our prized participants. We could not have done it without everyone’s prompt attention to details.”
