VAIL — Sonnenalp Hotel’s Gather in the Garden dinners return for the summer beginning this evening. A white linen garden party complete with a multi-course meal, creekside views and wine pairings from select vineyards, Gather in the Garden dinners are among the most anticipated events at the Sonnenalp each summer.

This unique dinner series kicks off Thursday with “Celebrating Colorado.” The five-course meal will celebrate the bounty of Colorado and feature wines from Colterris Vineyards out of Palisade and 7X Beef from Hotchkiss. Representatives from both companies will be on hand at dinner to discuss their unique perspective on producing food and wine in Colorado.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour on the banks of Gore Creek behind the Sonnenalp Hotel, with passed appetizers like DiSanti Farm vegetable spring roll with fruity dipping sauce, paired with Aperitif of Orchard Bellini. Following the cocktail hour, guests will sit down to a family-style dinner including dishes like 7X rib eye steak with sweet and spicy pear sauce and Avalanche blue cheese Asparagus; stuffed Boulder Frontier trout filet; and chocolate cassis lava cake with Colterris Cabernet Franc ice cream and crispy peppermint. Each course will be paired with a Colterris wine specially selected by the Sonnenalp sommelier.

Gather in the Garden: Celebrating Colorado begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, with a fixed price of $74 per person for dinner with wine pairings. Tax and gratuity are additional. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 970-479-5429.
