Fernanda Landeros and Aaron Chaussignand, two young professionals from Eagle County, joined a group of five SOS Outreach alumni for a rare opportunity to learn the entire process of bringing a ski to market.

Alongside Nordica and Christy Sports, the group helped to craft a limited-edition version of Nordica’s top-selling Enforcer ski. The collaboration benefits SOS Outreach with a portion of every sale benefiting the nonprofit’s outdoor-based mentorship program.

Since August 2023, the SOS alumni have led key aspects of the project, from designing the ski’s custom top sheet to developing a marketing strategy. The Nordica SOS Outreach Enforcer 94 showcases the same new construction as the in-line model, combined with an approachable waist width.

Only 70 pairs of the custom-designed Enforcer 94 were produced as a unique fundraiser for the organization. The collaboration highlights the shared commitment of SOS Outreach, Nordica, and Christy Sports to inspire and support the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts.

Landeros, a Business Administration student at Colorado Mountain College and an SOS Outreach Alumni Liaison, was excited to learn more about the business side of bringing skis to market while supporting an organization that means so much to her.

“I am a first-generation Latina skier, whose parents never got on the mountain,” she said in a news release. “By offering a chance to SOS kids like me, who are their first in their families to hit the slopes, these skis are making a significant impact on their lives.”

Chaussignand, who is working on a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace and Software Engineering and is an avid skier, also eagerly accepted the opportunity to contribute to the project.

“By choosing Nordica SOS Outreach skis, you’re not just investing in top-tier ski equipment, you’re investing in the future of countless young individuals,” Chaussignand said.

SOS Outreach is a national youth development nonprofit that cultivates a deep sense of belonging in kids and teenagers, unearthing their future potential and impact on our world. Since 1993, SOS Outreach has been using skiing/snowboarding to encourage youth to step outside of their comfort zones and discover new strengths within themselves. Guided by a multi-year curriculum, kids and teenagers receive mentorship, participate in community service, practice core values and build life skills.

More than 3,000 young people from 15 communities and 10 states participate in the organization’s life-changing programs each year.
