SOS stoking the fire

Special to the Daily Snowboard Outreach Society, a nonprofit organization that helps at-risk youth through recreational activities, hosts its annual ski-season fundraiser today at The Rumpus Room. A silent auction and DJs are on tap.

EDWARDS – Snowboard Outreach Society hosts its annual early ski-season fundraiser today at The Rumpus Room in Edwards.

The event is free, and DJ Jahstone and Denver’s DJ Majai will rev up the dance floor. Also on tap is a smorgasbord of new snowboard videos: Standard Film’s “Walk the Line,” Mango’s “Who Cares,” Mack Dawg’s “Follow Me Around,” and 686’s “Two Planks.” Doors open at 8 p.m. Party-goers can bid on silent auction items from Ride, 686, Vans, Dakine, Camelback and Salomon. Proceeds benefit SOS.SOS is a charity serving at-risk youth throughout the United States and headquarted in Edwards (www.sosoutreach.org).

SOS was founded in 1993 in the Vail Valley. The organization provides high-quality recreation programs to youth who benefit from the structure and consistency of the SOS curriculum. SOS will introduce more than 1,000 youths to snow sports at 25 ski resorts during its 13th season this year.
