Soulful R&B at Hot Summer Nights in Vail

VAIL -The Hot Summer Nights free concert series continues with the progressive sound of the Laura Reed Trio Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. This is the last Hot Summer Nights concert before a two-week hiatus as the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater hosts the Vail International Dance Festival July 27 through Aug. 10.Born in South Africa and raised in the American South, Laura Reed uses aspects of both cultures to shape a musical style all her own. A mixture of funk, progressive R&B and pure soul give way to a unique and inspiring live music experience, driven by Reed’s powerful vocals.Along the path of her musical journey, Reed has used experience from sharing the stage with the likes of The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, George Clinton and The Lee Boys to refine her craft. The result is a commanding sound.In addition to the free concert, this week the Vail Valley Foundation will host a celebration in honor of Vail and Beaver Creek winning the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships. There will be 2015 bumper stickers, food and drink specials as well as face painting and tattoos for the kids.After this week, the Bud Light Hot Summer Nights free concert series will take a two-week break to make way for the 2010 Vail International Dance Festival, being held July 27 through Aug. 10.
