Special guest James Ehnes performs for Bravo! tonight
Andrew Litton will conduct the Dallas Symphony Orchestra tonight at 6 at the Ford Amphitheater with special guest James Ehnes on violin.
Ehnes’ 2003/04 season has been a busy one with debut appearances in San Francisco, Dallas and Southeast Asia, tours with the Liege Philharmonic and Les Violons du Roy. Recent performances featured a return to the New York Philharmonic, the NHK Symphony Orchestra and the Seattle Symphony and his debut in Fort Worth. Highlights of his 2004/05 season include performances in Cincinnati and Detroit, as well as three stints in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Canada, and a special appearance with the National Ballet of Canada.
A banner year for recordings, 2004 sees Ehnes release four new recordings. His most recent is a collection of works by Janacek, Smetana and Dvorak titled “Romantic Pieces” on the Analekta label, which will be followed later this year by a disc of Wieniawski and Sarasate (CBC) and two Chandos recordings: Dohnanyi “Concerto for Violin” and “Tartiniana” by Luigi Dallapiccola, both with the BBC Philharmonic.
Tonight’s concert will feature works by Mozart, Beethoven and Prokofiev. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 877-812-5700, or log on to http://www.vailmusicfestival.org.
