‘Speed harmonization’ returns Sunday
Vail, CO Colorado
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colorado – The Colorado Department of Transportation and law enforcement will put “rolling speed harmonization” into operation again along Interstate 70 on Sunday.
Sometime between 11 a.m. and noon, a single police car will begin pacing vehicles on eastbound Interstate 70, from Silverthorne to the bottom of Floyd Hill. The police vehicle then will pace eastbound vehicles, at speeds between 45 and 55 mph, depending on road and weather conditions. A new pace group is expected to leave Silverthorne about every five to 10 minutes, with operations continuing along the 39-mile segment through mid- to late afternoon.
The effort is aimed at easing I-70 traffic back-ups
