Sports shops ‘Adopt-a-Cause’ for local charities
Vail, CO Colorado
BROOMFIELD, Colorado – For the 13th consecutive year, the more than 160 retail and rental shops of Specialty Sports Venture in Colorado, Lake Tahoe, and the Bay Area of California will help share the holiday spirit by contributing to a vital causes in the communities where the shops operate.
Through Vail Resorts Echo, the company’s corporate stewardship program, each region identifies its own cause or charity, then educates shoppers about the organization they are supporting and encourage shoppers to contribute whatever they can. Cashiers ask shoppers when finalizing their purchase if they would like to contribute.
Last year, through guest donations and a company match, Specialty Sports Venture stores raised $190,000, benefiting 15 local organizations.
Specialty Sports Venture was purchased by Vail Resorts Inc., earlier this year and the commitment to Adopt-a-Cause remains. This year, Vail Resorts Echo will continue the same matching program, donating 50 cents for every dollar up to $100.
“This effort is a long-standing tradition for the employees of Specialty Sports and every year they get more enthusiastic as they spend some extra time with shoppers while letting their community pride and support come through to help some really great local causes,” said Kat Jobanputra, chief operating officer of Specialty Sports.
Locally, Specialty Sports Venture’s Adopt-a-Cause will benefit Vail Mountain Rescue.
