Volunteer opportunities, neighborhood impacts, ways to get involved and other details about the upcoming Colorado Classic pro cycling races will be available during a series of community gatherings hosted by the town of Vail and Vail Valley Foundation beginning Wednesday, Aug. 1. With less than a month to go before the races come to Vail on Aug. 16 and 17, event organizers and representatives from the town's police, transit and parking teams will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.

Vail will be hosting two stages of the Colorado Classic featuring the best of men and women's pro racing. Stage 1, a circuit race, will take place on Aug. 16, followed by the Stage 2 Time Trial on Friday, Aug. 17. Fans can also enjoy the Whistle Pig Vail Gravel Fondo on Aug. 17 and the Whistle Pig Vail Jerry Garcia Birthday Band concerts at the Ford Amphitheater Aug. 17-18.

Road closures, parking adjustments and modified bus routes have been planned to provide a safe experience for the racers and cycling fans. The impacts will be felt in neighborhoods from West Vail to East Vail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on race days and will include a closure of the Lionshead Village parking structure to all inbound and outbound vehicles during the Aug. 16 circuit race.
