Spray park completed in Edwards, ready for spring 2008 opening
Vail CO, Colorado
Construction has been completed on the new spray park at Freedom Park in Edwards. The Eagle County Board of Commissioners recently attended a test of the new equipment.
“There’s no doubt this water feature will be a hit and we’re grateful to our partners for helping make this happen,” said Commissioner Sara Fisher.
The spray park was built in partnership with Eagle County, the Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District (WECMRD) and the Edwards Metropolitan District. The project also received a Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) grant for $100,000.
Contributions from WECMRD, the Edwards Metropolitan District and Eagle County totaled $100,000, for a project budget of $200,000.
“This truly outstanding amenity is the result of a true community effort with financial contributions from GOCO, Edwards Metro, WECMRD and Eagle County,” said Commissioner Peter Runyon.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
The spray park is approximately 800 square feet in size and features three different areas: a toddler area, intermediate area, and high action zone.
There are a total of 23 sprays at the park all controlled by a computer that continually changes the sequencing for a different experience each time.
Low-flow sprays were selected to reduce water consumption.
The spray park is scheduled to open in May 2008.
