Spring Back to Vail keeps rolling with The Greyboy Allstars tonight

VAIL – Spring Back to Vail continues today with a free headliner concert in Vail Village from funk/jazz band The Greyboy Allstars. The day’s entertainment also will include the Spring Back to Vail Expo Village with the Reverb Eco Village at the base of the Vista Bahn Express Lift (No. 16). Sunday’s free concert will take place in the heart of Vail Village at Checkpoint Charlie. The venue will open at 4 p.m., and the music will start at 5 p.m.
The Greyboy Allstars are a studio supergroup composed of Elgin Park, Karl Denson (leader of Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and former Lenny Kravitz bandmate), Robert Walter, Aaron Redfield and Chris Stillwell. Wielding unparalleled raw talent, this band has honed its on-stage show into an experience that keeps the crowds grooving the entire time.
Local funk-rock group The Jonny Mogambo Band will open up the show on Sunday evening. Mogambo will be joined by band members Dan Schwindt on bass guitar, Kyle Comerford on drums and Ben Jansen on keyboards. The band will be highlighting music from its two most recent albums, including oft-requested songs such as “Telluride,” “Party Goin On” and “Dinner in Paradise.” The band delivers a high-energy mix of funk, rock, rhythm and blues, with influences of jazz, bluegrass, ska and reggae thrown in. Members of this band have shared the stage with the likes of John Popper of Blues Traveler, James Taylor, Los Lobos, Jimmy Buffet, Everclear, Edwin McCain and the Violent Femmes, to name a few. The Spring Back to Vail Expo Village with the Reverb Eco Village will be at the base of the Vista Bahn Express Lift (No. 16) Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At the expo village, guests will find product demos and samples from many of Spring Back to Vail’s sponsors, like Maui Jim and Sprint. The Reverb Eco Village will feature numerous displays and giveaways from environmental non-profits like Protect our Winters, alternative energy and transportation exhibits, natural/organic food sampling from the likes of EVOL Burritos and Rustic Crust, ski/snowboard equipment demos and much more.
