Spring Back to Vail

The legendary World Pond Skimming Championships, presented by Red Bull, returns to Lake Golden Peak at Vail Mountain’s Golden Peak base area on April 20. The venue will open at 1:30 p.m. with expos and giveaways from event sponsors, and the competition will get going at 3 p.m. The annual competition entails floatable (and sometimes sinkable) athletes launching themselves off an on-snow jump onto an icy pond in attempt to successfully exit the pond on both feet. Competitors will vie for both fame and glory in a showing that defies the laws of physics — and perhaps even common sense. This year, two champions will be crowned — the top male and top female competitors — who will each take home an Epic Pass for the 2014-15 season and a pair of Liberty Skis. Registration is now open and is limited to a field of 75 participants. Register online at vail.com today!

Please join the Unity of the Mountains congregation for a special Palm Sunday service, featuring speaker Rev. Kathy Young, and Pat Hamilton will be providing the music. A potluck dinner will follow, so plan to come and bring a friend and a dish to share. The service begins at 5:30 p.m. today at our temporary location on the second floor of the Seasons Building across from the Avon Library. Enter the main door of the north entrance. You can follow the signs from the Avon Library. For more information, please call 970-376-1231.
