Spring storm dumps 13 inches in Colorado mountains
DENVER, Colorado ” A spring storm has dumped up to 13 inches of snow in the Colorado mountains and along the Front Range, forcing the postponement of the Atlanta Braves-Colorado Rockies game but causing no major problems.
The Wolf Creek and Winter Park ski resorts reported 13 inches Thursday. National Weather Service meteorologist Kyle Fredin says 11 inches fell in the foothills and mountains around Virginia Dale near the Wyoming border.
The Denver area got between 1 and 3 inches, Fort Collins about an inch and Greeley 4 inches.
Fredin said spring storms often bring a mixture of rain and snow and are difficult to forecast.
Most of the snow melted as it hit the pavement and sidewalks.
