Springs woman, 84, says she was hit, robbed
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado ” An 84-year-old Colorado Springs woman says somebody hit her on the head and stole her purse after taking a friend to the hospital.
Virginia Alves told The Gazette newspaper of Colorado Springs she was returning to Laurel Garden Retirement Community at 3 a.m. on Wednesday after taking a friend to the emergency room when she was struck on the back of the head with a wrenchlike instrument.
She says she was forced to the ground and the attacker took her purse. She didn’t say how much money she lost but it included a $50 gift card from her grandson.
Police say they haven’t found a suspect. Alves was treated for a bruise on her head and an elbow injury.
