VAIL — Jewelry designer Todd Reed saw the beauty in natural and raw diamonds early in his career and through his jewelry, has brought their beauty out to the world.
These diamonds showcase a myriad of color tones, from earthy browns, greens and reds to icy grays and blues. Since first incorporating them into his jewelry 20 years ago, the unusual colorations and textures of natural diamonds still draw people in, the artist said. Those unfamiliar with his work will often express wonder when introduced to his pieces.
Todd Reed jewelry is crafted of 18 karat gold, palladium, silver and titanium in his Colorado studio. In keeping with Reed’s social and environmental consciousness, all the metal is from recycled sources. The rough finished metals reflect a love of texture.
‘SOMETHING AS UNIQUE AS THEY ARE’
“The subtle flash of light and the laborious process behind his jewelry is appealing in this modern age. People want something that is as unique as they are, something that has a story and a philosophy behind it,” said local interior designer Natalie Andl.
His jewelry has brought refreshing new choices to modern weddings. His designs for both men and women bring a different option to convey that timeless symbol of commitment, the wedding ring, he said.
Visit the Squash Blossom this weekend to see Todd Reed’s newest collection.
