Squash exhibition to raise proceeds for local programs

VAIL — In the month of giving back and giving thanks, Aria Athletic Club at the Vail Cascade are showing their appreciation with an exhibition squash match featuring squash champions Todd Harrity and David Ramsden-Wood, with all proceeds benefiting Vail Veterans Program, Eagle Valley Humane Society and Children’s Hospital Colorado.

On Saturday, Nov. 21, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., watch U.S. national squash champion Todd Harrity take on David Ramsden-Wood, who represented USA at the 1999 Pan American Games and the 2000 World Championships. Top players from the Denver Athletic Club will also be at the event to partake in the activities.

Want to know what it’s like to compete against the best squash player in the world? Attendees have the opportunity to play Harrity for a donation of $100. Spectators can join in the fun for $25. Fred Bush, Andy Sigfusson and Bart McGuire are not only squash players at the Aria Athletic Club, but they are proud sponsors of the event and want to help raise money for a great cause.

ABOUT THE SQUASH CHAMPION

Harrity went to Princeton, where he played the No. 1 position on the squash team for all four of his college years. During his freshman year, he received the Ivy-League Rookie of the Year Award and continued to garner titles through his senior year, when he was co-captain of the squash team. As a professional squash player, Harrity won two PSA titles and is the 2015 U.S. National Champion. He’s also currently on the national men’s team, which competed in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto (earning a bronze medal) and will be competing in the 2015 World Team Championships in Kuwait in December.

Ramsden-Wood represented the U.S. at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada, as well as the 2000 World Championships in Cairo, playing in the No. 2 position on both teams. As a dual citizen growing up in Canada, he also represented Canada at the 1996 World Junior Championships. Most recently, Ramsden-Wood has been a Colorado state champion in both singles and doubles and has won multiple Hashim Khan titles, as well as played in the 2013 National Championships.
