Stash of fireworks found in Denver home
DENVER, Colorado – Denver police seized hundreds of pounds of fireworks from a residential garage Sunday.
Police who went to the home after an alarm was tripped found the fireworks. The homeowner was arrested. Police did not release a name.
Steven Garrod of the Denver Fire Department said the fireworks would be set off in an undisclosed location.
Possessing, using or selling fireworks in Denver is illegal, with penalties including possible jail time and a fine, police technician Dean Christopherson said.
“The danger to the community was real. In terms of explosives, this is like having a meth lab next to your house,” police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.
