State economic chief to speak in Edwards

EDWARDS – The High Country Republican Speaker Series will feature Brian Vogt, state director of international trade and economic development, as the main speaker Wednesday.Vogt was appointed in March 2004 by Gov. Owens as director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. In this position, he oversees a range of economic development activities, including domestic and international business development, small business programs, as well as the Colorado Tourism Office and the Colorado Economic Development Commission. He will speak on international trade and economic development during a lunch meeting that begins at 11:45 Wednesday at Belata’s Restaurant at the Singletree golf course clubhouse. To RSVP, call Henri Stone at 524-0104.Vogt also serves as a member of the governor’s cabinet, the Governor’s Commission on Science and Technology, and as the governor’s designee on the Colorado Economic Development Commission and the Financial Review Committee. Prior to entering into the realm of state government, Vogt served as president of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce for 14 years and as its vice president of economic development for four years. A second generation Coloradan, Vogt grew up in Littleton, attended Heritage High School and is a graduate of the University of Colorado.
