EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – The Colorado Environmental Leadership Program has recognized East West Resorts as a “Bronze Achiever.”

With the completion of the Westin Riverfront Hotel and Spa in Avon, East West Partners successfully designed the first LEED certified building in Eagle County. East West Resorts, the management company for the new hotel, was given the job to incorporate green operating initiatives to ensure LEED certification was attained. The Westin opened with Silver certification as a result of the efforts of the development and management group.

East West Resorts organized its “EcoCare” Team in 2008. Representing more than 30 condominium associations and over 500 individual condominiums and homes within Beaver Creek Resort, Avon and Vail, the company believes its green initiatives can have an impact on reducing pollution and waste, as well as reducing costs, educating and raising awareness among its employees, homeowners and guests.

“Our success as a company depends on each of these relationships,” said East West Resorts Executive Vice President Peter Dann. “We gained a significant amount of knowledge during the building phase of the hotel and shared with all of our managed properties. We are very excited know to be recognized by the state of Colorado for our companywide efforts here in the valley.”

The Bronze achievement recognizes facilities that have made significant achievements in improving the environment of Colorado, through efforts in pollution prevention, energy efficiency, waste minimization, and water conservation (beyond compliance).
