AVON, Colorado ” Stone Creek Charter School raised more than $20,000 last week at its third annual Jog-A-Thon.

Students earned money by collecting sponsors and running a lap around the parking lot.

The event is organized by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, and proceeds support school programs, events, equipment and books.

The top three student fundraisers were recognized with gold, silver and bronze Sneaker Awards: Yarmony Bellows (grade 2) raised $,4,700; Jaron Pena (kindergarten) raised $970; and Alicia Chavez (grade 3) raised $550.

“We’re proud of our success,” said Sandy Apps, event co-chair. “Our results are on par with what individual Eagle County Schools take home from Wild West Day.”

Event co-chair Carol Coudouy said, “The fabulous fall weather heightened the sense of community and school spirit. It was an awesome event. We appreciate the support of our parent volunteers and a special thank you to Dominos for sponsoring the pizza lunch.”

On Oct. 6, the school is holding the Inaugural Stone Creek Charter Golf Tournament at the Sonnenalp Golf Course, starting at noon. Lunch, prizes and a post-tournament reception at Balatas are included in the $100 per player registration for this four-person scramble tournament.

“We are excited to invite the community to support the area’s newest charter school,” says Mike Rindone, event chair, “We welcome golfers and companies who want to sponsor a hole.”

Registrations and sponsorships can be paid for online at the school’s website:
