Store snack leads to trouble in Gypsum
Vail, CO Colorado
GYPSUM –An 18-year-old man was charged for shoplifting at Columbine Market in Gypsum on May 20.
The owner saw the man eating biscuits and gravy in the store and asked if the man paid for them. The man said he had and the owner asked for a receipt. The man said he threw it away and the owner asked which clerk had helped him. The man then admitted he hadn’t paid.
The responding police officer observed a small tray of half-eaten biscuits and gravy on the store owner’s desk. The value of the item was $2.46 with tax.
The owner wanted to press charges. The man said he had the money to pay but didn’t because his funds were tight. He was issued a summons for theft.
