VAIL, Colorado –The snow storm rolling into the Vail Valley today should bring winter back to the region for the rest of the week.

The National Weather Service predicts up to 6 inches could fall by Friday morning and snow and colder temperatures could continue into the weekend.

Snow is supposed to begin falling tonight as the afternoon’s high winds decrease. Thursday’s forecast calls for a high near 39 and 1 to 3 inches of snow. Another 1 to 3 inches of snow could fall Thursday night, when temperatures fall into the low 20s, the Weather Service says.

Snow showers are likely again Friday. There is a 30 percent chance of snow Friday and a 40 percent chance on Saturday, the Weather Service says.

There also is a chance of showers on Sunday and Monday.
