VAIL – The streets of Vail Village will serve as the palette Wednesday as Colorado pop rockers leer43 head to the high country to paint a festive backdrop for a special Olympic Tribute edition of the Street Beat free concert series. In conjunction with the weekly free performance, town of Vail, Vail Resorts and the Vail Valley Foundation will also honor two of the valley’s trio of 2006 Torino Olympians, Toby Dawson and Sarah Schleper.

Hailing from Colorado Springs, leer43 counts influences such as Incubus and the Counting Crows for helping the band develop their own distinctive sound, whether it is sounds of jazzy hip-hop or distorted rock riffs. It was nearly a decade ago when Brandon Mertz formed leer43, with a goal of making a quality sound that did not simply blend into the changing culture of music. Sharing the stage with acts like the Gin Blossoms, Leanne Womack and Chicago, leer43 made a commitment to their fans that their music would not change.Street Beat starts at 6 p.m. at Check Point Charlie in Vail Village, with the Olympic Tribute ceremony scheduled for approximately 7:15 p.m.

Residents of Eagle and Lake Counties have two more opportunities to register to win the Street Beat grand prize as Volvo Cars of North American will once again present a 2006 Volvo S-40 sedan to the lucky winner at the final Bud Light Street Beat concert on April 19.Out of town guests can also cash in as Volvo Cars of North America, the Vail Valley Foundation and the Town of Vail have teamed up to provide the Volvo Vail Grand Prize Guest Giveaway for a lucky non resident. The Volvo Vail Grand Prize Guest Giveaway, awarded at the final free performance, will include roundtrip domestic airfare for four, two double occupancy deluxe Vail accommodations for five nights, skiing for four or two rounds of golf for four and the use of a 2006 Volvo during the stay.
