‘Stripper radio’ debuts in Denver

DENVER, Colorado –Indie 101.5 tried to change the rules of Denver radio.

But the award-winning FM station hinted last week that it is leaving terrestrial radio in favor of a Web-only format that will better support – and be a less expensive way to air – its discerning, independent playlist.

And so far, that format apparently focuses on music for strippers.

This afternoon, the station dubbed “The Pole” played “Addicted to Love,” and “Baby Got Back,” along with some techno-beats that one could certainly, umm, dance to.

A deejay interviewed “Candy” about what she thinks of the new format. She giggled and said, “It’s hot.”

The industry discussion forum Radio-info.com, citing the T-R-I newsletter, speculates the format change is a temporary hoax while the station is in transition.
